Dana Sadava

Known for her elegant technique and broad expressive range, Dana Sadava enjoys a varied career as a conductor of opera and symphonic music. Ms. Sadava is the Associate Conductor of Opera at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she works with graduate and undergraduate students as a conductor, vocal coach, and pianist. She is also an active guest conductor around the Bay Area and beyond; recent engagements include conducting the San Diego Symphony, West Edge Opera, Opera San Jose, North State Symphony, Symphony of the Redwoods, Opera Steamboat, University of California San Diego, Wexford Opera (Ireland), Banff Opera as Theatre, Indianapolis Opera, Pensacola Opera, Island City Opera, Cinnabar Theater, and Festival Opera. She has served as the Artistic Director of the Mill Valley Philharmonic for six years and was recently interviewed by NPR and Marin Magazine about her work in Marin.

Ms. Sadava has a particular interest in contemporary music. Last season at SFCM, she led a workshop performance of The Road to Wellville, a new opera by Matt Boehler and Tony Asaro, and prepared the casts of Proving Up by Missy Mazzoli for Steven Osgood. This spring she looks forward to conducting Anon by Errollyn Wallen as part of SFCM’s mainstage Chamber Opera production.
